Can you trust someone who offers to recover money you lost to a scam?
Almost never. Often it is the same criminals as before, back under another name. Someone who really recovers money does not ask you to pay first.
Arrives by Phone call, email, WhatsApp, adverts. Pretends to be: A law firm, the police, the FCA, an international agency.

How to spot it
We are a 1crypto recovery law firm working with the 2International Financial Trading Commission (INTFTC). Your lost funds have been located in a foreign bank account. 3A bank fee is required to verify your identity before the funds can be released.
Example: rebuilt from the FBI warning of 13 August 2025, which quotes the made-up INTFTC and the bank fees. We blacked out the dark parts.
- They contact you, after you have already lost money
- An agency that does not exist, or a real one used as a signature
- A fee to pay first: tax, lawyer, "identity check"
- Other signs to watch for
- They know how much you lost and when
- No video calls, no papers from the firm
How it works
After a scam, a "law firm", an agency or a fake official gets in touch. They know how much you lost and when, because they are often the people who scammed you, or bought your details. They say the money has been found in a foreign bank and have you open an account on a website that looks real. To release it, you must pay first: a tax, the lawyer, an identity check. The demands never stop, and the second loss can be bigger than the first.
What to do
Do not pay anything upfront to get lost money back.
Check any firm on the FCA Register, and call the FCA on 0800 111 6768 if you are not sure.
If you have lost money, tell your bank now and report it to Report Fraud (reportfraud.police.uk or 0300 123 2040) with your screenshots; in Scotland, call Police Scotland on 101. If someone is coming to your home to collect money or cards, call 999.
